Star Of The Nail Polishes

I hadn't planned on buying this particular nail polish as I thought it resembled a different color I already own, but after seeing swatches, I caved anyway, so here we go; Catrice Welcome To Las Vegas Limited Edition Ultimate Nail Lacquer, C03 'Star of the Show'.

Team Bella And Edward

Essence has released several nail art twins; A combination of two nail polishes (one base coat, one top coat) that match well together and go by the names of popular duos. I'll be swatching Nail Art Twins, no 6 today; 'Bella & Edward'.

Shopping List

I went to the store the other day and got these products. I hope they'll be as great as I expect them to be :-)

Items:
Essence Multi Action Smokey Eyes Mascara 01 (Black)
Catrice Infinite Matt Up to 18h Make Up 020 Honey Beige
Catrice Limited Edition: Welcome To Las Vegas Liquid Eyeliner C01 Drama Queen
Catrice Limited Edition: Welcome To Las Vegas Duo Lipgloss C01 Lovely Sinner
Catrice Limited Edition: Welcome To Las Vegas Nail Polish C01 Lovely Sinner
Catrice Limited Edition: Welcome To Las Vegas Nail Polish C04 Drama Queen

I also had a look at the other items from this collection and though I liked a lot of them, I didn't consider them worth buying. This limited edition has two other nail polishes, a blue and a gold/yellow one, but I thought the colors looked too familiar to Catrice's After Eight and Sand Francisco, which I both already own and will review at some point.

At first I thought Drama Queen (the black polish) was very much like Essence Vampire's Love Gold Old Buffy but luckily I was wearing that one and could compare them in store. They proved to be quite different, but I shall compare these at a later point in time.

Be seeing ya!

New But The Old, Sexy Kind Of Way

Yes, dear readers, another one from the Catrice Fall 2011 collection; no 560, 'Rusty But Sexy'. This color was also released as part of the Modern Muse limited edition in August of this year but shows up in the fall collection too. I'm not exactly sure what Catrice wanted to accomplish with that, but the good news is that this polish will be available for a longer while! :)

Dirty Lilac

I am a big fan of the 2011 Fall collection by Catrice and one of the new colors is Ultimate Nail Lacquer, no 630, 'Sing: Hey Dirty-Lilah!'. Gotta love their names too.

Make-up Love

As mentioned in this post, I was looking forward to the Vampire's Love trend edition by Essence. My local store was really late with releasing this trend edition so I was afraid I would miss out on it, but luckily I didn't! :-) Reviews will follow soon, but for now, here are the items I got;

Refresh

Long time, no see for which I'm sorry. Life has been quite eventful and between surgery and a dying laptop, I wasn't able to post any blogs, or do my nails a lot for that matter. I'm still recovering and getting my repaired laptop back in order, but I'm able to post again so here we go :) No nail polish this time, but a wonderful product nonetheless; Therme Skincare, Finn Sauna Shower Gel.

OPI Goes Dutch!

I must say I'm pretty excited about this collection and not just because I'm Dutch! There are some very nice colors in this collection and OPI truly outdid themselves with the word puns :-) The nail polished will be in stores in February 2012 and will, of course, come to the Netherlands as well. I truly can't wait!

Click for bigger version
From left to right; First row: Gouda Gouda Two Shoes, Wooden Shoes Like to Know It, I Don't Give a Rotterdam, A Roll In The Hague, Petal Faster Suzi, Dutch Ya Just Love OPI,
Second row:  Thanks a WindMillion, Red Lights Ahead...Where?, Kiss Me On My Tulips, Vampsterdam, I Have a Herring Problem, & Did You Hear About Van Gogh?

I would list my favorites, but I really love them all, lol. I'll definitely be running to the stores when these go on sale. Which are your favorites? Let me know by dropping a comment.

Rainbow Toe Nails

I'm anything but traditional when it comes to the nail polish I use for my toe nails. I will on very rare occassion go for the traditional dark red or brown colors, but I prefer to have colorful toe nails no matter the season. Don't ask me why, the only excuse I can give you is that I'm a little weird :-) For those looking for inspiration, here are my Rainbow toe nails (they're a little short, sorry).

How to get this look?

The colors that I used are these;
20111031-002

From left to right in this picture (and on my left foot, right foot is mirrored);
- Herôme W.I.C. Moroccan Collection (Spring 2011), no 152, Essaouirab
- Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer, no 450, Sand Francisco
- Herôme W.I.C. Moroccan Collection (Spring 2011), no 150, Zagora
- Herôme W.I.C., no 76, Rome
- Herôme W.I.C. Moroccan Collection (Spring 2011), no 149, Rabat
I did two layers of each, even though most colors didn't need for good coverage, but to get really bright colors, it's better to use two layers.

I'll review these colors at a later moment as I prefer to use the nail polish on my hands for that.

'til next time!

Nicki Minaj Collection By OPI

OPI teamed up with icon Nicki Minaj and will release 6 new colors in 2012. There are a few very interesting looking nail polishes in this collection in my opinion. Click the read more button for a large picture of all colors.

Crack The Cherry

I had a job interview this week so I didn't have the time to change my manicure more than just one time. After Captain Sparrow's Boat, I was in the mood for something colorful and ended up going for Essence Multi Dimension, no. 63, 'Purple Cherry', with a crackle top coat by Herôme, no. 165, 'Gold Geneva'. I've included more pictures than before in this post, I hope this gives you a better impression of what the colors are like.

Aye, Captain!

As it's getting colder outside, I feel like going for some of the darker colors I have in my collection so today I'll be reviewing Catrice's Ultimate Nail Lacquer, no. 620, 'Captain Sparrow's Boat'. As the name kind of implies already, this color is definitely inspired by Chanel's Black Pearl from this year's Spring collection. I don't have the Chanel nail polish, but I'm including a picture below so you can see the similarities :)

Crackled Love

After buying a few cracked nail polished earlier this week, I had to use them right away! I haven't had much time yet, so I've only used one but what a lovely color it is! I combined the Herôme 'Light Blue Malibu' (no. 163) crackle polish with Essence Multi Dimension, no. 57 'Love of Pink'.

April, May or June?

I spotted the Spring/Summer 2012 nail polishes by Chanel on several blogs the past week orso and my opinion of them is quite different from most responses I've seen so far, lol :)

A lot of people are a fan of June, but as far as I can tell from this picture that color won't go with my skin at all. My favorite has to be April, it's such a rich color. I like May too, very cute and feminine yet bright at the same time. But June? I don't know... I like the color itself, but as I mentioned before, I have serious doubts about it being flattering for my skin-tone, while lots of people write it would match a whole variety of skin-tones. I guess we'll just have to wait and see :)

Which color is your favorite? Drop me a comment and let me know :)

In The Nude

I've hurt my ankle quite badly this weekend and though nothing ended up broken - fortunately - I didn't really have the energy or the patience to do my nails for real. But my New York look had chips so I had to remove it and I decided to pimp the nude look a little with Catrice's Ultimate Nudes, no. 060 Mona Lisa Is Staring Back.

I heart New York

I've had this color for a while now but this is only the first time I'm using it; part of the standard Herôme's World Inspired Colors collection, no 94, New York.

Bite Me

One of the autumn collections I'm looking forward to see is the Vampire's Love trend edition by Essence, out in November 2011. I'm not interested in all products of this collection that includes eau de toilette, shimmer powder and more, but two particular items caught my eye and I hope I'll be able to get my hands on them once they hit the stores (yes, I buy the actual products I use here, I don't get them for free). One of them obviously being the nail polish. Pics and more after the clicky!

Nuts (Just A Little)

I'm a little nuts. I took a coupla pictures to show you my nail polish collection and I realised that yes, I'm a little nuts. But no, I don't really care :) More pics after the "Read More" button!

Pink Bracelets

October is the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness month as most of you will know. Pink Ribbon is dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness and funding breast cancer research. As I know several women who have suffered from this awful disease, I definitely support this cause.

I don't know if all worldwide websites have a webstore like the Dutch website, but I found it and thought it was a great way to support a good cause. If you're looking for new accessories anyway, please visit the Pink Ribbon webstore of your own country. They might have something you like and you'll be supporting Pink Ribbon too.

I bought two cute bracelets, both of course very pink, of which half the money will be spend on research.

'til next time!

A Star In The Making...

I had a fancy dinner last night and my previous nail look was already damaged so you're getting a new review from me already. After a while of contemplating, I decided to try Catrice's Ultimate Nail Lacquer, no 660 "I'm A Star..."
